Fixed Income
The headquarters of the fixed income business was established in 2003, and is a department that specializes in fixed income activities. The scope of business covered all aspects of the fixed income business, including proprietary investment and trading of bonds, bond research, bond sales, capital intermediary, underwriting of debt financial instruments of non-financial enterprises, and wealth management.
Proprietary Activities in Bonds
By adhering to the principle of steady investment, the bond proprietary investment and trading team has effectively avoided market risks. It has launched numerous profitable strategies, and built risk-free arbitrage models, setting a positive image in the industry. It has been ranked first in the industry over numerous consecutive years in terms of bond proprietary investment returns.
Bond Research
The bond research team consists primarily of professionals in the areas of economics, finance and statistics, and most have doctorate degrees. The team mainly provides timely and effective macro, interest rate, credit and innovative business research services to the proprietary, capital intermediary, wealth management and other business teams.
Bond Sales
The bond sales team is mainly responsible for the underwriting of book-entry treasury bonds of the Ministry of Finance, financial bonds of China Development Bank, financial bonds of Agricultural Development Bank, commercial paper of enterprises, medium-term notes, and asset-back securities.
The headquarters of the fixed income business has been a member of the underwriting team for book-entry treasury bonds of the Ministry of Finance since its inception. In 2005, it joined the policy bank financial bond underwriting team made up of a mere dozen or so of selected securities firms, and in the following year, received member status for type A financial bonds of China Development Bank. The total amount of financial bonds underwritten for the whole of 2014 exceeded Rmb100 billion. In terms of credit bonds, the amount of commercial paper and medium-term notes underwritten for the whole of 2014 amounted to Rmb14 billion and Rmb4.5 billion, respectively.
Capital intermediary
The capital intermediary team was set up at the end of 2012, and is primarily engaged businesses comprising investment advisory and the development of innovative products. Business development is based primarily on the cooperation of three parties - banks, securities firms and trusts (such as asset management and funds). The types of products currently include the structural product model and the active management product model.
Bond financing
The bond financing team primarily provides services as lead underwriter for debt financing instruments of non-financial enterprises. The team members have master's degrees or higher academic qualifications, and have been deeply involved in the primary bond market with extensive project experience.. Debt financing instruments of a non-financial enterprise refer to quoted securities issued in the interbank bond market by a non-financial enterprise with legal person status (hereinafter referred to as "enterprise") with a provision to repay principal and interest within a stipulated period. Issuers are generally non-financial enterprises with legal person status. Currently, debt financing instruments of non-financial enterprises primarily include commercial paper (CP), medium-term notes (MTN), small to medium-sized enterprise collation notes (SMECN), super and short-term commercial paper (SCP), private placement notes (PPN), and asset-backed notes (ABN). The Company is currently a lead underwriter among only 11 securities firms.
Wealth management
The wealth management team uses professional knowledge and industry resources to carry out professional advisory services related to securities trading and securities investment activities, including: the design and formulation of comprehensive financial products and services that correspond to the asset liquidity and income requirements of a client, so as to meet the financial needs of the client at different stages, helping the client achieve the objectives of lowering risk and realizing the preservation and appreciation of asset values.
Currently, the products that have been launched include net asset value products such as Orient Securities No 1, Orient Securities No 2 and Orient Securities No 3, as well as the OTC product, Orient Fixed Income No 1. Good returns and quality services have won the Company market recognition and a certain level of fame.
